ZirChrom Separations, Inc. carries a line of ultra-stable zirconia-based high performance liquid chromatography stationary phases. A full line (RPC, NPC and IEC) of zirconia-based analytical HPLC columns. Zirconia is completely stable over the entire pH range and at column temperatures up to 200C its extreme stability leads to longer column lifetimes, resulting in reduced analysis costs and a wider range of possible chromatographic conditions. Zirconia offers a stable alternative to silica and alumina based phases and an efficient alternative to polymeric phases. ZirChrom- PBD columns are much more pH stable than silica based bonded phases. ZirChrom- PBD columns can be used at both low pH (1M nitric acid) and high pH (1M hydroxide) without the active stationary phase loss characteristic of silica based phases. ZirChrom- PBD columns show no peak tailing for amines (no silanophilic interactions). ZirChrom columns can be used at low and high pH to convert ionized acids (COO-) and bases (NH3+, etc.) into neutral species thereby avoiding use of ion pairing agents. ZirChrom- CARB columns are acid, base and temperature stable, offering RPLC behavior with greatly different chromatographic selectivity compared to conventional silica RPLC phases. ZirChrom- CARB columns are generally preferable to conventional alkyl phases for separation of polar and non-polar isomer (ortho/meta/para, cis/trans, diastereomers). ZirChrom columns can also be purchased from a number of licensed distributors including: Alltech Associates, ChromTech, Keystone Scientific, MAC-MOD Analytical, SciQuest (On-Line Ordering) & Western Analytical. A new class of porous zirconia micro-spheres for large-scale preparative liquid chromatography of bio-molecules.
